Posidonia oceanica meadows are one of the most representative populations in the Mediterranean Sea and have a number of key functions for coastal ecosystems, therefore the monitoring of Posidonia oceanica is carried out annually by the AMP of Tavolara. The project, part of a wider set of activities of the management plan, aims at the detailed mapping, through the basic monitoring parameters of Posidonia, of the whole prairie of the MPA. This will provide information on the conservation status of the entire MPA prairie. In this way the managing body will be able to make well targeted management decisions on objective data.
