Terrestrial Reptiles

Tarantolino  (Euleptes europaea) is a species present exclusively in the central-western Mediterranean, with a mainly insular distribution. It is a small and delicate gecko, with fingers that in the terminal portion have a shape resembling to a leaf.

Tyrrhenian lizard  (Podarcis tiliguerta) is a medium-sized lizard, distributed only in Corsica and Sardinia. The dorsal coloration in males is generally tending to green, in females is of various brown and brown shades. It is found in different environments, in the AMP of Tavolara it can be observed on the beach as in the cacuminal environments of the island of Tavolara. On the basis of morphological characteristics and colouring, as well as recent genetic investigations, we can distinguish a subspecies (Podarcis tiliguerta ranzii) exclusive to the island of Molarotto, a small granite rock that is located in the integral reserve area of the MPA of Tavolara.

Gongilo  (Chalcides ocellatus) is a species with Mediterranean - African - Arabic distribution. In Sardinia there is the subspecies tiligugu distributed also in the Maghreb, in Sicily and on the Maltese islands. This lizard, with its stocky and shiny appearance, we find it in habitats such as the Mediterranean maquis, warm and arid rocky coastal areas. The gongilo is generally active from spring to early autumn.
