Berta minor (Puffinus yelkouan) in Tavolara reproduces half of the world population of this species. It is a marine species of length between 30-35 cm with wingspan between 70-80 cm. The upper parts are brown, the lower ones white. It nests in the caves and cavities of the islands of Tavolara and Molara, with about 10,000-13,000 pairs, and has been the subject of an important conservation project, Life Puffinus Tavolara.

Corsican gull  (Larus audouinii) Marine species endemic to the Mediterranean Sea, nests in the small islands of the MPA of Tavolara where human pressure is minimal.  It can be distinguished from the Golden Gull by its dark iris, dark legs and red beak. It reaches a size between 44 - 52 cm with wingspan between 117 - 128 cm. It builds its nest with the help of small branches, posidonia and dried algae, in small hollows, between rocks and bushes, near the shore.

Marangone dal Ciuffo (Phalacrocorax aristotelis desmarestii) is to be considered an important indicator of environmental quality as it is sensitive to changes in habitats and frequented territories. It is distinguished from the Cormorant by its thinner neck, smaller and round head and thinner beak. During the reproductive period it is recognizable by the presence of a short raised crest (hence the name from the tuft). In the Mediterranean it begins to occupy nesting sites from the end of October and usually lays 3 eggs from the second half of December.
