Olbia - patronal holiday of San Simplicio

Patron Saint of Olbia, which every year manages to welcome more and more tourists. In addition to religious celebrations, every year there are side events related to food and wine, handicrafts and local tradition with parades and folklore events. The feast of San Simplicio is very much felt by all the citizens of Olbia and Gallura. It is a secular tradition, which shows the devotion for the patron saint of the city with religious and pagan rites. The most important day of the feast is May 15th, the date of the martyrdom of the saint, with the solemn mass and the procession, leaving from the square of the Basilica of San Simplicio, which is accompanied by traditional choirs and folk groups from all over Sardinia.
