Granites
The granites are the oldest rocks in the area and are a complex of intrusive rocks, of magmatic origin, which differs internally for the relative percentages of the minerals that compose them. They date back to about 300 million years ago (Hercynian orogenesis), when the granite base on which the whole of Sardinia was formed. The granites are present on the mainland, on the island of Molara and at Tavolara only on the Spalmatore di Terra and in sparse outcrops along the coast of Tramontana and at Punta Timone.
