Dr. Massimo Canu is the new President of the Management Consortium of the Marine Protected Area. He was elected with a unanimous vote by the Consortium Assembly, which convened on July 13th at the headquarters of the Managing Entity. In addition to the representative from the Municipality of Olbia, appointed by mayor Settimo Nizzi, in equal cohesion and consistency with the provisions of the new statute, Dr. Rita Deretta, Mayor of the Municipality of San Teodoro, was elected Vice President. Geom. Francesco Lai, the outgoing President, was elected as a Councilor.

Within the Administrative Board, which will also be chaired by Dr. Canu, Tiziano Debertolo, representing the Municipality of San Teodoro, and Giuseppe Maludrottu, as the representative of the Municipality of Loiri Porto San Paolo, were elected.

"The new management team," proposed President Canu, "expresses great satisfaction and the utmost willingness to collaborate unanimously, in order to develop and safeguard the Marine Protected Area 'Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo,' an extraordinary jewel of the Mediterranean, as well as to promote the marine and terrestrial environment it possesses, which is among the most admired in the world."

"Further intentions," Canu concludes, "involve the creation of participatory initiatives in the environmental sphere, recognizing that the preserved and promoted heritage of the Marine Protected Area represents a wonderful present to be carefully and genuinely cherished, for an even rosier future, both for the environment and local communities."
